Fiona S. Carter

Weight: 142 lbs
A hybrid who is well known for her knowledge and studies on prehistoric sharks, Fiona is a kind yet fiercely protective woman with a bizarre sense of taste and a near-addiction to caffeine. At least some of her enormous fossil collection has been put on display in the Institute’s showroom, and she eagerly digs, buys and trades her way toward better specimens. Having suffered nightmares for a good portion of her life, which only seem to have worsened as she grew older, Fiona is plagued by a sense of dread about her future. She spends her days in perpetual exhaustion, an emotional wreck who somehow manages to get things accomplished between naps. Despite this, she is well respected within the community, and is frequently sought out by those who wish to identify that random fossil they found while digging in their yard.

Roderigo Somers
Age: 48
Height: 6′ 1″
Weight: 162 lbs
A man whose stern face hides a very passionate heart, Roderigo Somers is the male protagonist of The Revelation. Suffering from Disorganized Schizophrenia, he lacks the ability to properly express his emotions even with medication, but makes up for it in his actions. Those who meet him are generally wary at first, but it doesn’t take long for them to warm up to him.
A veteran and former member of the United States Navy Special Warfare Combatant-craft Crewmen, he is also known for his ability to plan ahead, take charge and get things done. An accomplished marksman, he is also a former fencer and his ability to improvise can lead him to combining these skills into a deadly display of sword-and-gun play if the situation calls for it.

Steven Somers

Weight: 148 lbs
A cocky young man whose love for his hometown has been tainted by great personal tragedy. Steven holds a fascination with the paranormal, although he maintains a highly skeptical attitude, preferring to see the supernatural as a source of entertainment than a fact of life. His past has left him with both physical and emotional scars, along with a moderately crippling fear of blood; despite this, he is fairly well-adjusted, and is known for thinking clearly in a crisis, even if his methods are borderline insane.

Pepper Carter
Age: 18
Height: 6′ (without ears)
Weight: 177 lbs
Fiona Carter’s niece, a music enthusiast with an IQ as sharp as her bite, Pepper is blunt and tactless to the point of callousness. She has difficulty with empathy and remorse, and can be a bit short sighted, but she genuinely cares for people, even if she ultimately sees them as tools and possessions. Despite this, she is protective of those she cares for, and prefers to “foster usefulness” rather than abandon those who are down on their luck. Don’t think she’s a nice person though–if she sees you as a threat, she can be cruel and merciless. She is a user and a bit of a sadist, and that has gotten her into trouble in that past.
Pepper is earning a Master’s Degree in Zoology at University of Florida, which is only possible due to an early graduation and a few skipped grades. She has a particular fascination with reptiles and amphibians.

Dr. Devon Carter, Ph.D.
Age: 59
Height: 6′ 5″ (without ears)
Weight: 204 lbs
Fiona Carter’s father and Roderigo’s genetic cousin, Devon Carter suffers from arthritis and diabetes but nonetheless is a tough yet caring businessman. Carter runs the popular and prominent Carter Institute and Oceanarium, a combination research institute, private oceanarium and marine rescue center that focuses primarily on sharks, skates and rays. While his aquariums started primarily as a way of funding the rescue center, they have long since grown into a very profitable venture that has turned Calusa Shores into a booming tourist town. Despite his gentle demeanor, those who know him are wary of crossing him, as his temper has been shown to be explosive in the past. Carter dislikes most firearms, but sees the beauty in weapons made for hunting, even though he remains vehemently opposed to the sport.

Yvonne Somers
Age: 47

Weight: 139 lbs
An intelligent, resourceful and independent woman, Yvonne spent most of her life climbing the rank ladder in the FBI. She retired a while ago though, having reached the lofty rank of Special Agent in charge of the Miami Organized Crime Task Force. Yvonne was instrumental in bringing down the Sanns syndicate, but has since resigned herself to a more peaceful life with her husband of 9 years, Roderigo Somers. She is protective of him, and very supportive, having gained over the years remarkable insight into the emotions that lay hidden behind his scowl. He opens up to her better than anyone else, and she trust him with her life.
Due to the enemies she made taking down criminal organizations, Yvonne carries a handgun with her at all times–a subcompact Mars Tec MT-340 in .40 S&W that is tucked away in a holster in her purse. Although much smaller than her old duty arm, her familiarity with the Mars Tec line and experience with the caliber make her a crack shot, although she thankfully hasn’t had much need to use it over the years.

Samantha “Princess” Carter

Nicknamed “Princess” by her family for her entitled attitude and known to others as “The Wicked Bitch of the East,” Samantha Carter is not particularly well liked in her community. She is Fiona’s sister, but is far more carefree and indulgent than her, which has been known to cause some trouble between the two. Her only daughter, Pepper, has inherited her attitude, but seems to have a bit more of a sadistic streak; however, it isn’t that Princess enjoys being cruel, she just can’t imagine herself being any other way.
Princess owns a profitable computer technology company, specializing in low-cost alternative software and silicon chips. Her most popular product, BaselineOS, is a well-received Linux Fork that combines ease of use with functionality. One of its major features is the ability to run non-native software via a complex compatibility layer–this has made it a very popular alternative to mainstream operating systems.

Ashton “Ash” Bauer

Weight: 175 lbs
Married into the Carter family in late 2000 but an friend for much longer than that, Ash is an intelligent and caring young hybrid with a bit of a manipulative streak. The father of Sabbath and Twitch Bauer, he comes from a heavily military family, and many of his relatives were among the first Hybrids allowed in combat. Despite his knowledge of military tactics, he hates fighting and is a technical pacifist who would rather spend time with his family than anything else. He uses his skills at smooth talking and nagging to get others to do what he feels is right, especially when he thinks they need the push to do so. Although remarkably social and outgoing, he can be a bit of a pushover himself, especially in regards to Sabbath; despite this, he is respected by the community and–most importantly to him–his family.

Rebecca “Twitch” Bauer:

Sabbath and Twitch Bauer, two little girls who were the first set of hybrid twins on record. They were once a media sensation because of this, but also partly because they are the daughters of Anne “Shakes” Bauer, the CEO and majority shareholder of the Shrimp Basket chain of casual fast food restaurants. It didn’t help matters that their father, Ash Bauer, is something of a local celebrity, although the twins don’t seem to know why. Devon Carter is their great uncle, which only serves to complicate things further. Sabbath is a happy-go-lucky, easy-to-please nice girl who prefers hard rock and a good book and who, despite having a reputation as the sweet and well-behaved child, can switch into mischief mode at a moment’s notice. She also has a bit of a fascination with firearms that can be tied her family’s military history. Twitch, on the other hand, is a sarcastic, rude deviant who seems to be rather cold for such a young child; her love of violent movies and loud deathcore music drives her father insane. They both have their secrets, which they share only with each other.

Simon Carlton

Calusa Shores’ resident gun nut and borderline redneck, Simon Carlton is Devon Carter’s Jack of All Trades. Equally competent as a manager, biologist and boat operator, he tends to carry the business on his shoulders. Carlton has a lot of respect for Fiona Carter, and has since she took charge of the Institute’s museum years ago. He frequently operates as a middleman for her and her father.
Carlton has a somewhat lucrative side business customizing and building firearms and knives. Several of his models have proven popular at gun shows, and many of those have been picked up by popular companies such as Peer Wilhelm and Larino and Skye. He currently is working on a high-performance 10mm M1911 clone he calls the Crimson Hawk, and is quite happy with how it has turned out. Nevertheless, he is a biologist first and a gun enthusiast second, and he is very loyal to the Carters.

Chief Arnold Gibson

Weight: 220 lbs.
The Chief of Police of Calusa Shores. An old friend of Devon Carter’s, Gibson is an honest cop with a strong sense of justice. He is also a devoted family man, with a wife and daughter whom he would give anything to protect. Gibson is well liked by his department, but he constantly butts heads with the Commissioner, who dislikes him for reasons unknown. Thankfully, Gibson is also well liked by the citizens of his town, many of whom would rather pack up and leave than have someone else take over; he tries to maintain as public of a presence as he can, and even goes so far as to investigate some cases himself.

Elisabeth Hassan

Weight: 124 lbs.
A long-time friend of the Carters, Elisabeth Hassan displays exceptional talent in the fields of trauma surgery and emergency medicine. Their friendship goes back to the New Year’s Siege, where she and Roderigo helped treat wounded officers following the incident. Currently, she appears to be acting as a whistleblower against unethical practices in her hospital’s ICU; what role she will play in the story’s conflict has yet to be revealed.

Deni DeMarco

Born in Lebanon and raised in Canada, Deni DeMarco is a resident of Calusa Shores and old friend of Samantha Carter’s. The child of an oil tycoon, he spends his modest fortune collecting rare books and artifacts from obscure cultures and religions. He is currently in possession of a copy of the Somnia Arcana, an extremely rare three-volume text that may be of some interest to the Carters. He also appears to know more than he’s letting on.

The Bladed Man/Blades
Age: Unknown
Height: 6’4″
Weight: 143 lbs.
A strange, unsettling, possibly immortal humanoid fiend with a preference for bladed weapons. Calls himself Blades. His real name, if he has one, is likely lost to time–he has been linked to the ancient Xiongnu Empire, which broke into tribes and was partially annexed into China well over a thousand years ago. This would, at least, make him over 1200 years old.
