Chapter XXXVI of The Revelation is now up! It’s a few hours later than the deadline I gave myself, but at least it’s out, right? From here on, I’ll be going back to the official Mondays schedule for chapter updates. I’m aiming for weekly again–not sure if I can hit it without snags just yet, but I need to try.

Blood draw was a bust. There was a glitch in the system that prevented paperwork from reaching the lab before I got my blood drawn. Will be doing that Tuesday. Plans I had to try to update were further complicated with our apartment had a brush with the outer edge of a tornado. Our AC got ripped off our roof, and well, it got pretty warm and stagnant in here, even with our fans going. We had to keep the computer off for most of the time–which is why The Pride was late. Thankfully other than the AC and a few trees that got ripped apart, not much damage was done to our apartment, but a unit further away got split in half when a tree hit it head-on.
The good news is I’ve done some work on Chapter XXVI and Dylan is poised to do his review of it Sunday night. It should be up by Monday evening if all goes well.
The short story The Pride is out now on The Deathscape Cosmos! The story takes place in the late 1800’s in a small kingdom in Africa known as Gojjam. The main character has had his curiosity piqued by tales of a pride of man-eating lions, and decides to seek them out. He will get more than he has bargained for.
Note that The Pride has some disturbing material in it, which may be a little much for some readers.
While I continue to cover from the mess-up regarding my medication, my problems seem to be multiplying. Following a doctor’s visit, I discovered that I have some degree of kidney damage. The cause is not currently known, but could be my medication, dehydration or my diabetes, or possibly a combination, and the extent of the damage and how treatable it is are both mysteries as well right now. I’m getting some blood drawn Monday, and will likely know more next week.
This may also interfere with a medical trial I was about to undergo regarding my liver.
As a result, I’m not sure if I will be putting up a chapter this week like I planned. I’m a bit bummed out, and the new antidepressant hasn’t fully negated the effects of last week’s withdrawal just yet, making it worse than it should be. However, the “first” draft of The Pride is finished, and waiting for editing and review–it may very well be on the Cosmos subdomain by the end of the week.
Until I know more, take care.
As of this month, apparently my insurance no longer covers my antidepressant. Due to this, I was stuck without that medication for almost a week, although I am now back on a new regimen. Unfortunately, the abrupt discontinuation of the medication compounded by the length of time without it have left me pretty sick. I will not likely be able to make the chapter deadline I mentioned previously.
Sorry ladies and gentlemen, it can’t be helped.
